St. Ignatius Program
Act as if everything depended on you.Trust as if everything depended on God.
— Attributed to St. Ignatius of Loyola The Patron Saint of Student Success
Embracing the Spirit of St. Ignatius, our school’s St. Ignatius Program, comprised of the Student Support Team, Resource Team and the School Counselors, is dedicated to fostering a nurturing and empowering Christ-centered educational environment inspired by the teachings of Saint Ignatius. Grounded in his principles of reflection, discernment, and care for the whole person (cura personalis), our mission is to provide tailored resources and support that enable each student to reach their full God given potential.
“St. Ignatius complements our classroom lessons by providing students with meaningful support and guidance, helping them grow in confidence and understanding.”
– Brianne Flaherty, Third Grade Teacher
“Nothing is more rewarding in my role as RISE Coordinator than watching students abandon guessing habits for accurate decoding and spelling, thanks to the multi-sensory strategies in our RISE reading intervention program.”

St. Ignatius Program Accommodations
Accommodations are individualized based on each student’s comprehensive educational-psychological evaluation, which is required for participation in the Saint Ignatius Program. Approved accommodations are intended to support students in accessing School of the Incarnation’s curriculum.
Accommodations may include, but are not limited to:
- Extended time on tests and quizzes
- Testing in a reduced-distraction environment
- Use of assistive technology for reading or writing support
- Use of a computer for assessments or note-taking
- Copies of teacher-provided notes, when appropriate
- Preferential seating
Documentation Required for the St. Ignatius Program
Guidelines for Documentation of Learning Needs
In order to determine appropriate accommodations, the comprehensive educational-psychological evaluation report must include the following elements within the report itself:
– A clearly stated disability diagnosis using current DSM-5 classification
– Completion within three years of the student’s enrollment at School of the Incarnation
– Cognitive and academic testing results
– A comprehensive educational, developmental, and relevant medical history
– A detailed description of the assessments and testing instruments used to determine the diagnosis (e.g., Woodcock-Johnson, WISC, WAIS, Conners, or similar measures)
– The professional credentials and licensure of the evaluator(s)
– A clear description of functional limitations supported by test results and an explanation of how those limitations impact learning and testing
– Specific accommodation recommendations directly supported by the evaluation findings, including the amount of extended time requested, when applicable
All required components must be contained within the comprehensive evaluation report. Information provided solely in an IEP, 504 Plan, service plan, or separate school document does not replace the need for a complete evaluation report.
St. Ignatius Program Tuition
At this time we do not have an additional tuition required to enroll in the St. Ignatius program.
St. Ignatius Frequently Asked Questions
Does St. Ignatius accept public school psychological testing completed in Maryland?
Public school psychological testing may be reviewed as part of the admissions process. However, St. Ignatius requires a comprehensive educational-psychological evaluation report that includes a DSM-5 diagnosis, cognitive and academic testing results, an explanation of how the learning difference affects school performance, and specific accommodation recommendations.
In many Maryland public school evaluations, testing summaries are provided separately from the IEP and may not include a formal diagnosis or detailed accommodation recommendations within the evaluation document itself. For St. Ignatius admission, this information must be included together within a complete evaluation report.
Are IEPs, 504 Plans, or private school accommodation plans sufficient documentation?
IEPs, 504 Plans, and private school learning support plans may be reviewed for context. However, because these documents outline school-based services rather than provide a comprehensive diagnostic evaluation, they do not substitute for a full educational-psychological evaluation report meeting St. Ignatius documentation standards.
What must be included in the evaluation report?
The evaluation report must include:
- A clearly stated DSM-5 diagnosis
- Cognitive and academic testing results
- A description of functional limitations and their impact on learning
- Specific accommodation recommendations
- The professional credentials of the evaluator
All required components must appear within the evaluation report itself.
How recent must the evaluation be?
The evaluation must be completed within three years of the student’s enrollment at School of the Incarnation. Evaluations completed prior to sixth grade require updated testing to ensure current and developmentally appropriate information.
