House System
The House System is a dynamic approach to student engagement and school culture.
How It Works
At School of the Incarnation, we are proud to implement Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports (PBIS), a research based framework adopted by every school in the Archdiocese of Baltimore to enhance academic achievement and social behavior outcomes for all students.
At SOTI, our PBIS program comes to life through our House System. Students, faculty, and staff are sorted into houses, creating smaller communities of belonging within our larger school family. Each house functions like a family of its own, built on shared values, mutual support, and school spirit.
Points are awarded to individuals and houses for demonstrating our core values of integrity, initiative, and inclusion, as well as for academic and personal achievements. The House System creates a positive, motivating environment where every student is encouraged to do their best, support their fellow Knights, and contribute to the culture of excellence and kindness that defines life at School of the Incarnation.
Benefits of the House System
01
Community Building
Encourages strong relationships among students across different grades. Promotes a sense of belonging and pride within their house.
02
Character Development
Instills our school’s values of Integrity, Inclusion, and Initiative. Provides opportunities for students to earn points for positive behavior, academic achievements, and participation in school activities.
03
Healthy Competition
Houses compete throughout the year in various academic and extracurricular activities, earning points for their house. The competition fosters motivation and excitement for school involvement. Individual points are redeemed for items in the school store.
04
Real-Time Updates for Parents
Parents will be able to see their student’s points in real time through the app.
House Structure
Each of our eight houses is named for a Catholic saint and is associated with its own color and work of mercy, giving every house a unique identity rooted in our Catholic faith.
During the first week of school, students, faculty, and staff are randomly sorted into houses during our annual sorting ceremony. Each house is made up of students from every grade level, creating a built in family of Knights that spans the entire school. Siblings often find themselves in different houses, and that is all part of the fun!
Each month, the entire school gathers for house meetings where students participate in service projects, friendly competitions, and community building activities. Faculty members are sorted into houses as well, reinforcing the idea that the House System is truly a community for everyone at School of the Incarnation. Our middle school students have the opportunity to apply for House Leader positions at the start of the year, taking on the responsibility of leading their house and serving as role models for younger students.
